Title: Soft gluons and effective field theory

Soft gluon emissions play an important role in collider processes, especially for energetic jets production. In this talk I will review some progress in soft gluon resummation methods such as Soft-Collinear Effective Theory driven by a better understanding of soft emissions. Recently, we develop a new effective field theory framework to factorize jet processes. Our effective field theory provides, for the first time, a factorization formula for non-global jet observables, which fully separates the physics at different energy scales. Its renormalization-group equations control all logarithmically enhanced higher-order terms.
